Is Israel about to Invade Iran?

By Bill Salus

Recently a dear friend very knowledgeable in Bible prophecy sent several eschatologists, including myself, an interesting email. In summary the crux of his email stated that he hasn't located an Israeli strike against Iran anywhere in Bible prophecy and was questioning if we had.

Many experts believe that Israel will have to strike Iran soon in order to detrimentally damage, if not destroy, Iran's developing nuclear program. Since my friend hadn’t located an Israeli strike against Iran anywhere in Bible prohecy, he suggested that today's hints of such an Israeli strike may amount to nothing more than a rumor of war in accordance with Matthew 24:6. Below is my email reply to him.

My dear friend ________ it is not necessary in order for an Israeli strike on Iran to take place that it be foretold in prophecy. Such a strike does appear highly likely and it is strongly being suggested will occur by the end of this summer. I recently interviewed Jonathan Bernis of Jewish Voice TV for an upcoming KWBB 105.5 Prophecy Update radio program and he had just spoken with a high ranking member of the Knesset who informed him that Israel is fully ready to strike Iran, but will likely wait until the end of this summer to ride out a few final months of diplomacy.

Presently the Israeli - Iranian rhetoric is indeed just a rumor of war, however in my estimation such an Israeli strike sets the stage for both the Psalm 83 Arab – Israeli war and the Russian – Iranian led invasion of Israel described in Ezekiel 38 & 39. In fact it could be the very ingredient that makes Iran of little Psalm 83 utility. (Persia / Iran is not listed in the ten member Psalm 83 confederacy). It could also further strengthen already strong national ties between Russia and Iran in their bid for Mideast and world dominance, which is foretold to occur in a post Psalm 83 world.

I would suggest that you stay open to the very real possibility that this year Israel may strike Iran. I believe that in accordance with Daniel 2:21 God has allowed the most powerful man in the world, president Barack Obama, to come into his present leadership position. His liberal pro-Palestinian sentiment demonstrates to humanity the depraved, ignorant, and dangerous condition of Middle East foreign policy currently being proposed and / or supported by many world political and religious leaders. Israel just celebrated it's Sixty first birthday meaning that six decades have come and gone and the international community has done nothing to change the Arab - Israeli situation and there is nothing new on the diplomatic table to suggest that they ever will.

Additionally, I believe God has put Israel’s new Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu along with his cabinet in place to fend off the pending existential threats to the existence of Israel. Both Psalm 83:4 and Ahmadinejad call for the destruction of the Jewish State.

Furthermore, Syrian and Iranian ties are strengthening and, come June 2009, Hezbollah, which has tens of thousands of rockets pointed toward Israel, will possibly have more than their present 11 seats in the Lebanese government. Additionally the Taliban are on the march, Al-Qaeda is on the recruit, terrorists are targeting Paki nukes and the Middle East, in my humble estimation, is being positioned for WAR not peace!

God's program for Israel is about to move full Godspeed ahead. This is further evidenced by the fact that Israel's enemies not only possess the attitude but the wherewithal to wipe Israel off of the map. Although the destruction of the Jewish state is the mandate of the Psalm 83 confederacy as well as the stated intention of the apocalyptic minded Ahmadinejad, it is not part of God's last day's plan for Israel.

In fact just the opposite is prophesied to occur. As I point out in my book Isralestine, The Ancient Blueprints of the Future Middle East, the Israeli Defense Forces will soundly defeat the Psalm 83 confederacy. Furthermore Iran ultimately experiences bitter defeat subsequent to the Psalm 83 event as described in Ezekiel 38:5, 39:1-7 for their participation in the Magog invasion of Israel.

When we consider all the above scenarios it is important to recognize that the world will likely be, at least temporarily, a better place in the aftermath of the fulfillment of Psalm 83, which I believe is about to occur very soon. However, in the midst of the fulfillment of Psalm 83, Americans had ought to ready themselves for higher gas prices, further economic downturn, dangerously low Wall Street closing levels, potential terrorist attacks upon American interests inside and outside of American soil, and a general national condition of desperation, such as was witnessed in the aftermath of hurricane Katrina. My advice to Americans specifically and humanity in general, is to hope for the best but prepare for the worst, and that likely means WAR in the MIDDLE EAST!

If you look at the wars that Israel fought after the Exodus and coming into the promised land. Who they fought has lined up EXACTLY with who they have fought since becoming a state. Next in line...what is today called Iran.

Keep Israel in your prayers!

It's a big relief knowing the fact that we're on the winners' side.

That's one of the primary reasons because I love Bible Prophecy. Its 100% accuracy of fulfillment demonstrates that the Bible is the inspired and inerrant Word of God.

Here in my country we have a proverb that goes like this: "When the river sounds, stones it brings".

I think that Israel is playing a very difficult chess game against its enemies, but she'll do the ultimate checkmate.

Iran, Russia, and Syria have been in preparation for a combined assault allied with many others. Turkey was the last member to fall in place. Syria will be command and control headquarters. Ezekiel 38-39 identify that this Russian led offensive will come rapidly as if enraged. With extensive Russian and Iranian listening posts in Damascus any Israeli attack on Iranian territory would have to eliminate this.

Recent intelligence reports indicate Russia warned Iran prior to a planned Israeli Airforce strike on their aircraft lined up for a military showcase. While precision strikes on locations within Damascus to clear the path for an Iranian strike will no doubt bring Syrian reprisals I believe this is where Isaiah 17 takes place. Israel will bring an unprecedented response.

The Psalm 83 coalition has existed for some time and is controlled by Syrian and Iranian commanders. An attack on Syrian or Iranian territory will bring this coalition into action in unison with the Ezekiel 38-39 confederation. Western members will only observe and diplomatically protest the corresponding attacks as prophecy indicates.

With a mind to full disclosure, I am the one who sent that Email query to my dear brothers, and who responded with the same response.

I concur with Bill Salus' response in the same way that I concurred with the same response received from Dr. Reagan, and I deeply appreciate both responses: I agree that an Israeli attack on Iran could occur outside of being prophetically mandated.

However, I am also of the mind that there exists an equal possibility for a Syrian unilateral preemptive WMD strike against Israel in the middle of the night (per isaiah 17) could also occur between now and the fall of 2009. A total fulfillment of Psalm 83, and all that ensues could still very much become the net result.

Dan 8:17 And he came near where I stood; and when he came, I was afraid, and fell on my face; and he said unto me, Understand, son of man; for the vision is for the time of the end.America is the goat that attacks Iraq and Iran. Daniel 8 is a prophecy of ENDTIMES. It is NOT referring to Alexander the Great.

Herein is the answer to the question of where it is in Scripture that is says America attacks Iran.

Thanks for all your comments, it appears as though Psalm 83 could occur in the very nearby future.

Israel could delay Iran until Ezekiel 38-39 and begin Psalm 83's subjugation of their hostile neighbors by fulfilling Isaiah 17 & Jeremiah 49 through annihlating Damascus. Removing Damascus would be like icepicking the tires on the whole Muslim war vehicle.

Nathan - The Destruction of Damascus Isaiah 17:1 prophecy, does appear to be about to happen. From a military perspective, Damascus has been a strategic target of the I.D.F. for some time now.

Soon Israel will have to make a bold move to ensure the survival of the nation and the destruction of Damascus will likely be among the targets.

Additionally it fits within the Biblical prescription of the curse for curse in kind model out of Genesis 12:3. Jeremiah 49:25 asks Damascus the rhetorical question "Why is the city of praise not deserted, the city of My joy?"

Jeremiah is referring to Jerusalem, the city of God's joy. He asks why is it not deserted, meaning that at the time of the destruction of Damascus, Jerusalem comes under threat prior.

Syria's goal will be to create militarily the desertion of the Jews out of Jerusalem. This is the curse. The curse for curse in kind, will be the converse, instead of the desertion of Jerusalem, the military destruction of Damascus, Syria's capital, most likely by the I.D.F. will occur

The Prophet Ezekiel declaring the word of the Lord identifies clearly in Ezekiel 39:25-29 the intention of the Lord God to gather all Israel. This would then indicate that Israel would at this time require expanded borders along with the construction of the Temple.

In context this scenario takes place at the conclusion of the Gog/Magog battle. Psalm 83 clearly identifies the enemies of Israel both ancient and present indicating their desire to see the Jewish State destroyed. While this Psalm is prophetic in nature it is also a call for divine intervention.

The goal of the Lord God in the aftermath of the Gog/Magog Battle is that his name be glorified among the House of Israel and that the enemies of Israel acknowledge his power and glory. Ezekiel 38-39 declare that the Lord will dwell once again with his people Israel.

The expansion of the borders of Israel will come naturally with the gathering of Jew's from the land of their enemies. The very fact that the entire nation of Israel buries their dead enemies to cleanse the land, indicates they have nothing to fear having recognized that the Lord God is their only true protector.

Psalm 83 is merely recognition that the enemies of Israel are always planning the destruction of the Jewish State and burn with hatred. While Psalm 83 is not a battle plan, it is however, the recognition that the hand of God can bring true victory. These enemies bordering Israel have always lusted after the inheritance of Jacob.

Do I understand correctly that Israeli civilians just happened to get evacuated from the places where God would win the war of Ezekiel 38?

It occurs to me that the dislocated might have simply been moved to safer areas.

I don't see anywhere in the Bible to indicate Israel Invades Iran. The He-Goat tramples Medo/Persia (not Alexander the Great) and this must be a power from the West. Since the US has already started the trampling of the two horns Medo/Persia, which is Iraq and Iran, then it's safe to say we will finish the job with Iran soon enough, or someone else from the West may help us. That could be UK or other?

I have been in a study of Isaiah by Kay Arthur and I must say that having read your book Isralestine has made the study even more interesting.
The one thing that is true is that God's plan will prevail in spite of all the actions of men and nations. I am happy to see in this blog that you have emphasized that truth.
